"The Use of Expressive Therapies in
Your Mental Health Practice"

Featured Speaker:
Julia Byers, Ed.D.

The Workshop: Expressive therapies are increasingly being used in a variety of mental health settings across the life span. These therapeutic approaches can decrease trauma reactions, improve treatment outcomes and be adapted to address such diverse subjects as women in the workplace and adolescents in crisis. Assessments can also be enhanced with the addition of expressive therapy techniques. Many expressive therapy techniques can be adapted for use in traditional psychotherapy settings. This program is for all mental health professionals.

Learning Objectives --  Participants will learn:

1. What approaches are included under the umbrella of expressive therapies.

2. The current research in the use of expressive therapies.

3. Specific expressive therapy techniques which can be used in traditional psychotherapy settings.

4. To identify evidence–based therapies for treating individuals coping with psychological trauma.

5. Resources for additional information and training in expressive therapies.
