"Psychology
in the Workplace:
Organizational Crisis Management"
Featured Speaker:
Gerald W. Lewis, Ph.D.
The
Workshop:
Accidents, injuries, conflicts, layoffs, natural disasters, reorganizations,
and a wide variety of other crises often leave the workplace and the
workforce reeling in their wake. Since 9/11 we have witnessed a significant
transformation in the paradigm of the American workforce. Security and
protecting the infra-
structure have taken precedence while care of the
employees has become a lower priority. Human resource professionals struggle
to do as much as they can but they too are often at a loss as to how
to respond. Today, more than ever, there is a great opportunity for mental
health professionals to apply their clinical skill set in the big happy
dysfunctional family setting of the workplace. This program is for all
mental health professionals.
Learning
Objectives -- Participants in this program
will:
1. Obtain a brief overview of assessing workplace culture.
2. Learn the types of crises that disrupt a workplace and its workforce.
3. Learn about both individual and group reactions to crises.
4. Review the Human Impact Assessment Tool (HIAT).
5. Learn the stages and phases of organizational resolution.
6. Obtain an overview of the misunderstood controversy surrounding
the efficacy of psychological debriefings.
7. Learn about other unique services that psychologists can provide
to the work organization.
8. Learn the “do’s” and “don’ts” and “nuts
and bolts” of the role of the consultant.
